Targeted therapy uses drugs or other substances to interfere with specific molecules involved in tumor growth and development, thereby preventing tumor growth and spread. This treatment has been approved for certain specific types of cancer and works by disrupting cell growth signals or angiogenesis within tumors, promoting the death of certain cancer cells, stimulating the immune system to destroy cancer cells, and delivering toxic drugs directly to cancer cells.
